While providing started dogs is not our main focus, on the very rare occasion we will have dogs that have received varying amounts of training available as started dogs. Dogs and descriptions will be shown below.

Titles and Awards; HRC Started Hunter Title (SHR), AKC Fast Cat BCAT Title (BCAT), 2 Passes towards AKC Junior Hunter (JH), could easily earn CGC, TKN, & VHMA (would be willing to get these done before she leaves).

Velvet is a very fun little dog with a lot of potential. She is around 55lbs, lean, and has a pretty golden coat with a wave to it. While she will probably fill out a little, I don't expect her to get a whole lot bigger. Velvet is a huge social butterfly and steals the hearts of everyone she meets. She has that typical constantly happy, friendly golden retriever temperament. She gets along great with people, strangers, children, and other dogs. She has never been exposed to cats. At just over a year old, Velvet is past a lot of the young puppy stuff and has a lot of good training under her belt but is still a young dog with lots of fun energy and spirit.

Velvet has received professional gun dog training and was handled for AKC/UKC Hunt Tests by Canton Retrievers from Dec. 2023-September 2024. She has been through obedience, force fetch, collar conditioning, shot over with a shotgun, and begun pile work, sit on the whistle, and casting. Typical of golden retrievers, Velvet can be a bit on the softer side and training has to be kept positive. As a young dog, she still has a lot of maturing left to do but shows a lot of potential, is very birdy, and loves the game. I think she would also have a ton of potential in other venues if given the opportunity; dock diving, agility, rally, etc. With her gentle and loving nature, I believe she would also make a great therapy dog prospect. I would love to see her go into a home that would continue to do something with her but she would also make a wonderful family companion of course if that is all someone was interested in.
